#HASHTAGHIPHOP FEATURED INTERVIEW: @KasualKas

January 10, 2018

Kasual Kas has been a staple in the industry for quite someone and we are blessed to have been able to have this 1 on 1 interview with a veteran such as himself. He has been building an empire for years and now things might just be going to a whole new level. With a strong ear for talent and willingness to succeed there doesn't seem to be anything Kasual Kas can't accomplish.

1. For those who may not know, who are you and where are you from?

I'm fucking Kasual Kas. I was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Long Island.

2.  At what age did you decide to pursue your career in the music industry?

A lot of people don't know this, but my stepfather was actually Big Daddy Kane's tour DJ. So, I was into the music from age eight onwards.

3. Who are some artists you have worked with or alongside?

DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, E40, Flo-Rida, Akon. The list goes on and on, I've worked with all these n*ggas lol.

4. What has been your proudest moment in your career thus far?

Signing Rayla to the Practice World Wide management. (shameless plug)

(Kasual Kas, Rayla, Tony Bella - from left to right)

5. Tell us about The Pracice World Wide.

The Practice World Wide is a TV/film and licensing company. We are also a co-publishing company, and newly formed management company.

6. As a collective what are some short term and long term goals for The Practice World Wide and for yourself?

For The Practice, our short term goals are really maintaining our reputation in TV and film, and talented roster.

7. What do you look for in an artist or new talent?

If its an urban act, authenticity. If it's a pop act, authenticity. (don't like no fake shit)

8. What is your favorite thing to do besides music?

Video games. (that's a easy one)

9. If you could play any professional sport what would it be?

It would definitely be boxing. I boxed as a preteen. (anybody could get it)

10. Nike or Adidas?

C'mon. Yeezy boosts.

11. Instagram or Twitter and why?

I like Instagram better, but I'm verified on Twitter, so I get more free shit of twitter. It's a tossup.

12. Do you think social media has helped or hurt the industry?

For me, 1000% helped. It gives artists that don't have a platform multiple platforms to display their talent.

13. Did you think you would be where you are now when you were a kid?

No, honestly I thought I would be famous. This is the next best thing, getting to work with famous people. (like Nikki Tino https://soundcloud.com/nikkisvoice/wild-main-mix)

14. What is a piece of advice you'd give an aspiring artist, A&R, or tastemaker?

Believe in your own ability.

15. Where can people find you?

Across all platforms, @kasualkas. You can find me at the office at the Practice World Wide if you want free smoke.
